Australian imprint etcetc Music present a night of electronic muscle for Vivid Sydney 2015 (22 May – 8 June), an 18-day festival of light, music and ideas – the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere. Taking over the iconic venue ‘The Basement’ in Circular Quay, etcetc presents the percussive wizkid Kilter, sub-tropical lord Paces, rising house duo Set Mo, the e-gaze of Godwolf, and garage-tinged producer Acaddamy. Joining the line up will be special guest performers KLP, Porsches, Deutsch Duke, Nicole Millar, Madeline Vida and Tim Lockwood.

KILTER

Riding at the forefront of the new wave of electronic producers coming out of Australia is Kilter. The young Sydney-based producer's tropically-infused, percussion-laden beats have seen a loyal fan base build among punters, peers and industry types alike.

Kilter's infectious and atmospheric sounds have been driving people to the dance floor, but it is his live show that keeps them dancing and sets the electronic whiz kid apart. With an MPC, synths, microKorg and drum pad in tow, his show is a live manifestation that speaks volumes for Kilter as not just a skilled producer, but also as a talented musician. Be it engaging small sweaty clubs or sprawling festival fields, Kilter has become a seasoned performer in his short career. His percussion-infused pulse is perfectly mirrored by his kinetic energy and enthusiasm, pushing him to the front of the pack of new artists creating and developing the Australian movement.

2014 saw Kilter hit the road supporting RüFüS, The Kite String Tangle and Art vs Science, plus coveted festival appearances at Splendour in the Grass, the national tour for Listen Out, Field Day and the Big Day Out, and he followed this up with a national 28 date headline tour around the release of his 'Shades' EP in July.

With his single 'They Say' getting love across the board at triple j, Kilter's sophomore EP 'Shades' debuted at #1 on the iTunes Electronic Albums chart. With feature artists like Citizen Kay, Ev Jones and Ngaiire on board, 'Shades' cemented Kilter's place as one of the most exciting electronic producers coming out of Australia. The EP is also an all-Australian affair, from the feature artists to the specially created artwork from Melbourne artist, Kate Shaw.

In December 2014, Kilter rounded out a big year of recordings and touring by releasing 'ReShades' - an album of exclusive tracks, unreleased remixes and live favourites featuring such artists as ODESZA, Duke Dumont, The Kite String Tangle, M feat. Diplo, RüFüS, Andy Bull and Snakadaktal - all ReShaded by Kilter.

Constructing rich soundscapes and crafting remixes, Kilter infuses each track with deft precision; be it summer vibes courtesy of bouncing steel drums, nods to his hip-hop influences or pounding militaristic drumbeats. These remixes, and his debut EP 'Hold Me', have seen Kilter gain traction from the blogosphere and industry, nailing top spots on Hypemachine (two #1s and a #3), while also securing positions on Spotify's 'Spotlight on 2014', Hillydilly's 'Best Remixes of 2013' and inthemix's 'New Breed of Producers To Watch' lists. He has also garnered attention from the likes of BBC Radio 1's B. Traits, Toddla T, and EDM stalwarts like M.A.N.D.Y and X-Press 2.

"Increasing in popularity from his remix of London Grammar's "Hey Now" and the "They Say" remix competition, his rise to the top was almost Flume-like. Early experimentation with what is now known as future bass earned Kilter the respect he holds today." Pigeons and Planes

With his original recordings and exclusive remixes, plus a constant string of live shows around Australia, Kilter is one name that's reverberating across the country for good reason.

PACES

Mikey Perry is never going to be at risk of being called a lazy guy. If not writing tropical party anthems as Paces, he's producing tracks for friends (Tkay Maidza, Madeline Vida, Vanessa Elisha), remixing the likes of SAFIA, Kilter, Parachute Youth, YesYou, Sampology, Danny T, Rattraps and Sietta; supporting beat-maker extraordinaires Lunice, Ryan Hemsworth, Kaytranada, Djemba Djemba and Mr Carmack; or creating some pretty powerful memes with the help of his French bulldog Chilli.

Mixing influences from Jersey Club, Future Beats and Garage, he's crafted a style which is undeniably his own but could sit at home amongst any of his musical idols like Cashmere Cat and Ta-Ku, and gained awareness through his Hottest 100 single with Tkay Maidza 'Switch Lanes'. With the added valour of Perth-based singer Kucka, 'Nothing's Forever' is an electronic power ballad catapulted onto the dancefloor by Paces' truly unique production. If you're not yet across the work of Kucka, you're in for a treat. Praised by Rolling Stone and flagged as an Artist to Watch in 2015 by triple j Unearthed Music Director Dave Ruby Howe, Kucka (pronounced Coo-ch-ka) brings perfect complements to 'Nothing's Forever'.
