8 BALL AITKEN & TAYA CHANI
8 BALL AITKEN
Swamp-blues-rocker 8 Ball Aitken is bringing his slide-guitar party gig to legendary Sydney music venue ’The Vanguard’ on Wednesday November 2nd supported by Sydney Soul-singing sensation Taya Chani.
8 Ball Aitken has toured the world for more than a decade performing across twenty countries to date. He’s earned a loyal fanbase from his live shows and internet videos, while paying his dues as a singer, songwriter, slide-guitarist, and producer. 8 Ball won second place in the 2021 International New Orleans Cigar Box Guitar Festival hosted by blues woman Samantha Fish. His album release ‘ICE CREAM MAN’ hit #1 on the Australian Blues & Roots Charts in March 2021.
“8 Ball Aitken demonstrates that the blues are alive and well Down Under with this deep-in-the-pocket collection of modern blues and blues rock that’s built atop a swamp blues structure.” Chicago Blues Guide
“For a guy from Australia, 8 Ball Aitken really has the Delta in his bones… I wouldn’t be surprised to find Mississippi mud on the soles of his shoes.” - Gonzo Okanagan
TAYA CHANI
Taya Chani is a singer, guitarist and songwriter born and raised in Sydney. A soul singer who travels easily through many genres, she loves every destination within her musical landscape.
A chameleon Queen – fermented in the richness of Blues, infused with Americana, Country and Soul, spiced with Funk and R’N’B, with a love for Jazz. With a soul soothing voice, Taya delivers a genuine and comforting presence that will dig deep. She is also a solid, dynamic and rhythmic guitar player. Her shows are intimate and raw which reveals a soft vulnerability leading you to believe that Taya is singing directly to you.
Playing shows in venues and bars all over Sydney, while accumulating an enviable network of well sort after musicians in Australia, she has appeared at several music festivals within NSW and interstate. She is equally as comfortable in the shoes of backing vocalist and session musician. In her travels to the southern states of America she has found the true homeland of the music in her heart, particularly New Orleans, Nashville, Texas, Mississippi and Memphis. Taya always returns to her native Australia, with a stronger goal, greater drive and overflowing with inspiration to write and create more of her own music.
