The PERTH BLUES CLUB presents

Wayne Green & K.B. + The Hips

Wayne Green & K.B. | 7.30pm

Wayne Green & K.B. are a Fremantle based duo of many years’ experience that play an eclectic mix of roots based songs in a stripped down format...2 voices, one guitar, one harmonica and a good time vibe!! K.B. was the lead singer of The Bayou Brothers and also (in N.Z.) a brief stint with Russ L'Roq and the Romantics...featuring a pre-Gladiator Russell Crowe. Wayne Green is well known as the front man of The Phantoms; legendary Perth rock n roll band.

The Hips | 8.45pm (2 sets)

Hips 50 year reunion gig
2025 marks 50 years since Mark Lynch, David Milroy, Phil Riseborough, Howie Smallman and John Smoker first played together as ‘Spinifex.
They played around Perth and WA country centres for about 3 years from 1975 to 1977.
Their musical direction followed their interest in Chicago blues mixed with a little rock and roll and country blues.
In the years that followed they pursued separate careers and then reformed in 2006 for Johnnie Smoker’s 50’th birthday party. Shortly after that they decided to relaunch themselves onto the blues circuit as the Hip Replacements.
They shortened that name to just, ‘The Hips’ for reasons known only to themselves
In their new found enthusiasm they started doing several originals which culminated in the production of a CD ‘Mean Dog Blues. Their originals mostly written by David Milroy are infused with the same good time feels and dance-ability that have featured in the classic blues covers that they have always delivered, the best of which will be part of the set they will present on Tuesday February 18.
Guitar and Blues harp and the occasional mandolin feature strongly together making some unique sounds delivered over a strong rhythm section. Five vocalists make for a diverse and entertaining performance.
The Hips are essentially a 5 piece blues band playing classic blues covers and originals in a blues-influenced style. There music is infectious and very danceable. Be prepared for a good time.
Mark Lynch: Bass and vocals, Dave Milroy: Guitar and vocals, Phil Riseborough: Drums and vocals, Howie Smallman: Blues harp and vocals, John Smoker: Guitar and vocals
