With Dylan Atlantis + FRIDAY*
Rising Australian artist Nick Ward announces his much-anticipated Australian headline tour this October. Nick Ward will kick off the tour at The Night Cat in Melbourne on Friday, 18 October 2024, followed by a stop at Brisbane's Black Bear Lodge on Saturday, 19 October 2024, and concluding at Sydney's iconic Oxford Art Factory on Friday, 25 October 2024. Nick is also confirmed to support Troye Sivan on his highly anticipated national Australia/New Zealand tour this November. The full run of AU/NZ shows follows dates in EU/UK in August.
Nick’s debut album, “House With The Blue Door,” is set for release on October 4 and available for pre-order now. The magnetic current single "All Your Life" is the latest taste of the forthcoming album, a send-off to the listener that explores themes of nostalgia, bittersweet endings, and grappling with depression. Since being released two weeks ago the track has received acclaim from fans all around the world including one John Mayer, who called the track “hypnotic and abstract” in his podcast ‘Life with John Mayer’.
Nick Ward initially envisioned his debut album, "House With The Blue Door," completed just before his 22nd birthday, as a kind of blurred time capsule for his youth. After spending an afternoon at a Sydney exhibition of Hilma af Klint’s "The Ten Largest" (1907) paintings, Nick Ward had the idea to create an album about childhood and the lingering emotions of the past.
“It’s about family, childhood, and the difficult relationship we have with the past. I think your early-twenties is about coming to terms with your childhood, especially after finishing high school and experiencing more of the world. Starting therapy really made me realise how much emotional baggage I was holding onto, and this record was made while I was unpacking all of that. I finished this album right before my 22nd birthday, so it felt nice to encapsulate my adolescence in one statement. For a while it was hard for me to listen to, just because of the headspace I was in while making it, but now it brings me a lot of joy and it gives me closure to finally release it." explains Nick.
With its blend of raw emotion and infectious pop hooks, "House With The Blue Door" solidifies Nick Ward's place as a visionary artist, leaving a lasting impression on all who venture through its musical corridors. In addition to being announced as Australian tour support act for Troye Sivan, who Ward collaborated with on Sivan’s album track “Can’t Go Back Baby”, Nick will also play shows at All Points East Festival in the UK and SXSW Sydney 2024. Nick Ward is signed globally to EMI Music Australia with release partner in the USA, Republic Records.
