Large Mirage goes POP!
Join retro rock outfit Large Mirage as they perform a special one-off performance at Waywards on Saturday June 15th to showcase their latest single 'Be My Guide/Be My Friend' alongside other new material. Backing up their debut EP and tour of Europe, Large Mirage are taking on a classic concept with a brand new double-sided single. Recorded and produced by the band, the single has an inspired yet quintessential flavour, with each side showcasing a unique style and soundscape.
'Be My Guide' is a sensuous soul-rock ditty with an infectiously funky vibe that uniquely recaptures the essence of pop in the 70s, while 'Be My Friend' shows a deeper edge to the group, incorporating social commentary and avant-garde sounds to form a melodic and psychedelic pop-rock fusion.
Large Mirage is a fresh rock 'n' roll group from the humble suburbs of Sydney who have established themselves as a standout act in the Sydney live music circuit, playing some of the city's top venues and theatres and supporting numerous successful Australian acts. A group that has made a niche with their unique brand of vintage rock 'n' roll and striking retro image, Large Mirage have released several singles and are notable for their totally independent studio work.
Their debut EP 'A Side To Blame', released in September 2023, sets an example as their showcase piece in composition and production.
Large Mirage have performed national tours and are a live hit with their classic-style riffs, virtuosic musicianship, memorable repertoire, and energetic stage presence. In 2023 they sold out headline shows and toured their latest releases internationally, performing in Germany and the UK to packed audiences.
The enigmatic lineup consists of guitarist/vocalist Kolya Chan, bassist Blake Rochester, and drummer Daniel Croft.
"There's something that gives a band a bit extra ... a mystique."
- Clinton Walker (author - Highway to Hell) on Large Mirage
“... a group that brought me back to a time I wasn’t born in - they combine the best of the 60s and 70s, like The Who mixed with Lynyrd Skynyrd. Looking forward to what’s in store for Large Mirage, fingers crossed they’ll be a prolonged band of the resistance”
– Cameron Menegoni (2SERFM)
“... the track sizzles with retro crunch and sonic punch (with a) hard-hitting rock edge...”
- Corin Shearston (The Sydney Sentinel) on ‘Going Insane’
Joining them will be sensational and popular guitarist Tash Wolf with her band as she supports her brilliant debut single 'Electric Blue' with a fierce and exciting live show. Opening the programme is ethereal female five-piece Megafauna as they perform on the back of numerous recent releases, including their debut EP 'Fibonacci Sequins' and beautiful latest single 'Blue'.
