IDK (USA)

ANNOUNCES DEBUT AUSTRALIAN TOUR

Playing Sydney & Melbourne in January 2023

‘IDK is an anomaly in the modern hip-hop landscape; he can appeal to both old school and new school sensibilities with his music – there’s hype tactics, but there’s rapping ability in equal measure.’ – Ride Music Blog

Performing to sold-out audiences across America and with upcoming gigs across the UK selling out fast, Illusive Presents and Frontier Touring are excited to announce the debut Australian tour for boundary-pushing Maryland rapper and producer IDK (Ignorantly Delivering Knowledge). Visiting our shores for the first time in 2023, IDK is set to hit The Night Cat, Melbourne, on Wednesday 11 January, and Oxford Art Factory, Sydney, on Thursday 12 January.

A chameleonic musicality, IDK has worked with some of the biggest names in the biz’, including A$AP Ferg, Denzel Curry, Rico Nasty, Wale, and Grammy Award-winning DJ/Producer Kaytranada, who produced his latest album Simple. Frontier Members presale runs 24-hours from Tuesday 11 October (12pm AEDT) before general public tickets go on sale on Thursday 13 October (1pm AEDT) viafrontiertouring.com/idk

“AFTER YEARS AND YEARS, I FINALLY GET TO ANNOUNCE MY AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND TOUR DATES” – IDK

Today’s news comes in the wake of his recently announced world tour celebrating the rap auteur’s third studio album Simple. (released May 2022 via Clue/Warner). This latest work pays homage to ‘Simple City’ – a housing project in southeast D.C. where life is “anything but simple” – and features singles ‘Taco’ and ‘Dog Food feat. Denzel Curry’. He also dropped two smooth new releases ‘Free Slime’ and ‘Drive’ in late August and featured on Aussie rapper Masked Wolf’s next viral hit ‘Sailor On The Moon’. IDK started recording music under the moniker Jay IDK, unleashing his debut project Sex, Drugs & Homework in 2014, featuring ‘Hungry’, a boom-bap track laced with bars about his upbringing and hunger for rap game dominance. His debut studio album Is He Real? emerged in 2019, the same year that he launched his own label; Clue, under Warner Records. Outside of recording and producing, IDK hosts an Apple Music radio show and teaches a 10-day music business program for primarily BIPOC students through Harvard University.

Released in 2021, his second studio album USEE4YOURSELF is a sprawling meditation on love, materialism, masculinity, and the layered emotional effects of a troubled upbringing. Laced with features from Young Thug, Slick Rick, Offset, Westside Gunn, MF DOOM, Jay Electronica and others from wildly different worlds, the album is something contemporary and futuristic that still contains everything hip hop heads would want. ‘Standing tall alongside giants, IDK proves he can hang wherever he wants as he utilises his chameleon-like flows to manoeuvre through trap instrumentals.’ – NME

IDK has long made a habit of outdoing himself, dreaming bigger with each passing project and track. Don’t miss the chance to see one of rap’s most conceptually innovative practitioners when he performs live in Sydney and Melbourne for the first-time next year.
