With Solo Career
Multi-instrumentalist GUM (aka Jay Watson) reveals the release date and title of his forthcoming album, Saturnia. A 10-track record of the sonic explorations you’ve come to expect from a GUM album, however these visions have coalesced into the richest and most coherent work of Watson’s career to date and it’s set to come out September 15 via Spinning Top Records.
Saturnia marks GUM’s sixth studio album since 2014, somehow finding time to record between his commitments with Pond and Tame Impala. Most recently you can hear Watson’s featured vocals on Tame Impala’s newly released demo from Lonerism Box Set, “Retina Show,” which he co-wrote with Parker. In April, GUM released two tracks with King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard’s Ambrose Kenny-Smith for Record Store Day. “Minor Setback” and “Old Transistor Radio” have been getting spin after spin on stations across the US, clocking up the streams and receiving serious love from tastemaker outlets around the globe.
GUM will be taking Saturnia around the country on a rare Australian tour with his band to Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in September, before he heads overseas to play a string of dates across the US in October.
