Don Glori
Don Glori is an anagram for producer, composer and multi-instrumentalist Gordon Li, originally from the genre - bending melting pot that is Naarm (Melbourne, Australia), and now based in London. Traversing jazz, funk, soul, RnB, samba and beyond, his music is hard to describe, but harder to forget.
Stepping away from his role as a prolific sideman, Li came into the limelight as a bandleader in 2022 after releasing his long awaited debut album ‘Welcome’. The album catapulted Don Glori forward as an artist to watch, garnering support from BBC, NTS, Worldwide FM, Rinse FM, KEXP, Tokyo FM, PBS and RRR and continues to be highly sought after by record collectors today. Welcome was nominated for the Australian Music prize as well as multiple Music Victoria awards. His most recent album 'Don't Forget to Have Fun' was released in June 2024 on UK label Deep Matter. The album is enjoying early support from BBC6 (Huey Morgan, Tom Ravenscroft), NTS (Shy One, Patrick Forge, Marshmellow), WWFM (Mr. Bongo, Laana) among others, cementing his place as a new voice in the booming UK jazz scene.
Recent performances include London Jazz Festival, Brick Lane Jazz Festival, Badehaus Berlin, The Jazz Cafe, Dragefjellet, Strawberry Fields, Panama Festival and Dark MOFO. He has supported Azymuth, Marcos Valle, Emma-Jean Thackray, Turnover and continues to add to his growing CV of bucket list venues & festivals.
To celebrate the release of his new album, Don Glori is returning home for a special run of shows across Australia. 2 years since his last hometown headline show, with a bag full of new songs and stories to share.
We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
