Deep Sea Arcade have announced their highly anticipated return with ‘Learning To Fly’ – the lead single from their sophomore album (due early 2017) and the first taste of new music in over four years since their 2012 debut album, Outlands.
The band are set to celebrate the release by returning to venues across the country on The Learning To Fly Tour in December, with a run of intimate shows confirmed in Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Perth.
The new single, which was premiered by Zan Rowe on triple j's 2016 program on Sunday night, was produced and mixed by ARIA award-winning producer/engineer Eric J Dubowsky (Flume, Chet Faker, Flight Facilities and St. Vincent).
The track melds the psychedelia-influenced sound of Deep Sea Arcade's debut record with newer electronic influences from the band's time spent touring, recording and living throughout the UK and Europe since the release of Outlands.
Deep Sea Arcade have toured Australia extensively in the past, appearing alongside Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds, The Charlatans, Temples, Cloud Control, Kaiser Chiefs, Girls and Modest Mouse. Numerous international appearances have included sets at Big Day Out Festival, Lowlands Festival (Netherlands), Wilderness Festival (UK), Primavera Sound Festival (Spain), Reeperbahn Festival (Germany), Live at Leeds (UK), on top of sold-out headline shows in London.
Outlands received international acclaim upon its release in 2012, with singles heavily supported in Australia by triple j (Feature Album) and FBi Radio, and in the UK by BBC 1, BBC 6, and XFM.
