Crown Ruler Presents HOME LOCATION Album Launch Party
Crown Ruler presents Elle Shimada ft. the co-dreamers for a night of community, imagination and whimsy at the Night Cat on Friday July 15th.
Come along for a multi-disciplinary experience where Elle Shimada will re-envision the Night Cat into a place of healing and rejuvenation in celebration of her forthcoming album Home ≠ Location, set to be released via London-based label The Jazz Diaries. Inspired by underground dance floor resistance movements of QTBIPOC free thinkers in jazz and electronic music scenes locally and globally, the album reaches new lengths for the multi-instrumentalist turning skeletal beats that nest her rich falsetto into blends of house, keys and drum and bass. Joining Elle as her collective of dreamers on the night are Rara Zulu, Waari, Yami, Khiarra, Lucky Pereira, Maru Elias and Karen Bravo.
Fertilizing the space as supports that night are Sydney soulbird Setwun, whose mellifluous vocal serenade you will not want to miss before he visits the UK for a hot minute; and Komang, whose blend of nu-soul beats with Balinese spirit has earned her an impressive slot in Bali next month for her Boiler Room debut.
On the decks for the night you’ll see Tribqu head honcho Zjoso, as well as Izy crew Kuku & Kuyu kicking it B2B.
This event will take place on the traditional lands of the Wurundjeri Woi Wurrung people of the Kulin Nation. We pay our respects to their Elders past, present and emerging; their culture and language; and their ongoing resistance against colonialism since 1788. Always was, always will be.
Free entry to all First Nations people who wish to attend this event. Please get in touch via info@crownruler.com.
We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
