ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL has been part of the American roots’ music landscape for more than 50 years. Although the band got its start on a farm in Paw Paw, West Virginia, the band has become a cornerstone of the Austin, Texas scene since its arrival in 1973.
Inspired by Western Swing and honky-tonk country, Asleep At The Wheel has accrued a huge 10 Grammy Awards and released over 20 albums.
Performing for the first time ever in Australia, the tour will feature stalwart member and founder RAY BENSON in a show billed as The Past, The Present and The Future, as well as original member, and longtime Australian resident, LUCKY OCEANS and current stars of the Americana genre, JOSHUA HEDLEY and BRENNAN LEIGH.
They’ve played and recorded with WILLIE NELSON, ALICE COOPER, EMMYLOU HARRIS, BLIND BOYS OF ALABAMA and many other incredible artists, plus the influential RAY BENSON was prominently featured in Ken Burns’ critically acclaimed Country Music docuseries.
ASLEEP AT THE WHEEL will take you through all forms of Country and Western music playing their hits as well as special songs from the past for a non-stop evening of good times.
We honour and acknowledge the Whadjuk Nyoongar people as Traditional Owners of the land on which we work and live. We pay our respects to elders past, present and emerging and recognise that the land and sovereignty has never been ceded.
