We’re inviting you to look forward by looking back, as we hook ourselves into the cyber-punk spirit of the early to mid-90’s, a time when the radical potential of cyber-space offered limitless potential to dream of electric sheep and a better world via your nearest terminal.

So dust off your CRT monitor and phish out the hottest cybernetically enhanced outfit in your wardrobe (lest you be dismissed as malware), as Shandy celebrates the final upload of 2021 and brings in the New Year with 1,000 or so of our nearest and dearest queer family, admins, users, and avatars.

Join us at The Tivoli in Meanjin/Brisbane as we hook directly into a stream of some of the hottest performers this side of the Great Firewall, unable to be contained by any binary.

TICKETS

Have your bots at the ready (and maybe tell the tops too) and upgrade your RAM as Shandy’s first ever New Year’s Eve event is certain to sell out. Tickets go on sale at 12:00 noon AEST on Monday 22nd November. We will have a limited allocation of free and discounted tickets available for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and any people who can't afford the ticket price. NOTES FOR THE EVENING

We respectfully acknowledge the Traditional Custodians of the land on which we hold this event, the Turrbal, Jagera/Yuggera peoples and pay respects to Elders, past and present - and also pay respects and offer our love to the First Nations community attending our event. We recognise that Sovereignty was never ceded and that we live and gather on stolen land. We want people to feel as safe and welcome as possible, so please feel free to message the Shandy Instagram or Facebook page with any queries or concerns.

As always, please don't assume any one's gender or pronouns. A fun way to ask is to start by giving someone a compliment, and asking for their name and pronouns.

Consent is key – ask before touching and await a clear response; fuck yes or no thank you! The bathrooms will not be gendered - they either have urinals, or don't. Finally, the venue is wheelchair accessible. If you have specific access requirements or queries, please don't hesitate to let us know so we can make your arrival as smooth as possible 😊

Be respectful and considerate – do your bit to make the space safer and more comfortable for others: a party is only as good as the people attending, and we all have a role to play in having the best night ever! Racist, sexist, ableist, homophobic, or transphobic behaviour/attitudes will not be tolerated. Please see staff or security if someone is making you uncomfortable, or message the Shandy Facebook page. We will also have our Shandy angels and a contact number to call if you need assistance on the night.

As of 17 December 2021 it is a Queensland State Government mandate that patrons, staff and artists above the age of 16 need to be fully vaccinated with an approved Covid vaccine to enter The Tivoli Theatre. Please do not purchase a ticket to this event if you will not be fully vaccinated by this performance date. You will need to provide proof of double vaccination upon arrival at the venue and patrons who fail to do so will be refused entry.
