Recklessly arriving in the world as rock and roll saviours nine years ago, The Vines were unlikely candidates for endurance kings but they might have achieved that with the release of their brilliant fifth studio album Future Primitive. To celebrate that triumph over the bands famous rollercoaster tale, The Vines are thrilled to announce the dates for their first national headline tour in many years stopping at The Gov.
Future Primitive is being regarded as the bands best and most consistent album since the volatile debut Highly Evolved back in 2002. Be it the screaming 110 second ride of first single
Gimme Love or the languid beauty of the ballad Leave Me In The Dark there is nothing superfluous on this record. Thats the direction Im heading in, enthuses Nicholls.
Two minute songs are really cool things to me. Im not a very technical guitar player, so a lot of
The songs dont have guitar solos. Mostly, its just about arrangements. Ive worked hard at those.
Nicholls has also worked hard lyrically, and the album title Future Primitive is an eloquent and knowing take on how he sees himself in the world, and how the world sees him. Ha, yes. Its about being in the wrong time. Its about what I think I am. Its about not being connected to technology. I dont think Im missing out on anything, I just dont understand it. I dont know how to drive. I cant use the computer. I dont have an email address or a mobile phone. I like playing guitar and writing songs. And I still like cds.
Joining the band will be the formidable Papa vs Pretty.Papa vs Pretty are young, but thats not why you know them. Theyre gifted, genuine, & gutsy, whichhas seen the band rise to the top of music lovers most anticipated list. With their debut album "United In Isolation"hot off the press Papa vs Pretty cant wait to hit the road and do what they do best play live. Also on the tour will be band de jour Bleeding Knees Club whose garage rock soul surprises with the bands sand in the amp gold coast origins, turning major heads here and abroad. The line up will be completed when The Vines announce a local opener to each show. This will be the final step in curating a defining moment in spirited Australian music.
The Vines will then leave for limited dates in Japan, South America and Europe after the tour, so salute rock and roll while you can.
