Australia's top music group on Classical Arabic - TARAB ENSEMBLE.

'Arab Retro: Best of the 80's' is a 2 hours concert (with a break) of a variety of Arabic music styles as an artistic response to tumultuous times. Through a vibrant tapestry of Arab musical styles (including Andalusi Muwashah, Syrian Qudoud, North African Rai, Iraqi Maqam, 20th Century Classics, and Longa), and with a special focus on the music of the 80's, Tarab Ensemble's performances are a testament to the power of music in showcasing richness and diversity, while fostering empathy and unity.

Tarab: The name. The journey.

Tarab is an Arabic word that, while difficult to translate, embodies the deep pleasure and joy derived from classical Arab music. Established in 2019 by Palestinian-Australian musician Yousef Alreemawi, Tarab Ensemble
emerged from a need to amplify classical Arab music in Victoria. Since then, it has evolved into Australia's premier and most expansive collective dedicated to Arab musical traditions, welcoming musicians from diverse
backgrounds worldwide.

Tarab Ensemble:
Dr Ali Abdullah (mentor)
Yousef Alreemawi (founder and keyboard player)

Sarah McDonald (flute)

Michael Currie (double bass)
