Astral People are proud to announce the return of the innovative Brooklyn-based electronic artist Shigeto.
Shigeto has been a pioneer in experimental electronic music since he burst onto the scene in 2008, and the Michigan native has continued to push boundaries with his unique sound ever since. Brought up on a steady diet of Michigan-bred music, Shigeto draws from an array of influences, seamlessly blending instrumental hip-hop, dubstep sub-bass and jazz melodicism to create a futuristic sound that evokes both the past and the present.
Shigeto's first release, New Crossings EP, introduced the world to what was to become his signature style; ambient and textured electronica ridden with unexpected melodies and bass lines as deep as they are immersive. His distinctive talents have been picked up on by industry heavyweights around the world, having remixed for the likes of Tycho, Shlohmo, Worst Friends, Praveen & Benoit, Charles Trees, Beautiful Bells and many more.
Following the release of numerous singles, EPs and LPs, including his most recent and highly acclaimed album No Better Time Than Now in 2013 that received an impressive 4.0/5 from Resident Advisor, Shigeto will release his much-anticipated Intermission EP on the 30th October. Having given us a taste of the EP with the extremely well-received lead track 'Pulse', and after collaborating with jazz legend Dave Douglas on his freshly released album High Risk, the anticipation surrounding the multi-instrumentalist is almost at breaking point.
Supporting Shigeto will be fellow boundary-pusher Lapalux, who's distinct sound has been making waves across the industry since his inception also in 2008. The Essex-native received much praise following the release of his debut album Nostalchic in 2013, and more recently, showcasing just how much he has progressed creatively with the release of his follow-up album Lustmore.
Lapalux's ability to experiment with texture and genre is like no other, who's unique talents have gotten him signed to Flying Lotus' label Brainfeeder and remixed tracks for Young Thug, The Acid and Mirrors.
This tour will mark the first time Shigeto has been back to Australia since his game-changing tour in 2013, which saw him bring his raw live performances across the country, including a particularly special show at acclaimed Victorian festival Strawberry Fields. As well as returning to Strawberry Fields Festival, he'll be playing a few sideshows around Australia. Shigeto's Australian tour this summer is not one to be missed!
