Roger Knox

Uncle Roger Knox has uplifted and entertained audiences from across the world with his beautiful honeyed voice. He has embraced a diverse career in Cabaret, Gospel and Country Music. With a performing career spanning more than 4 decades, he is a much loved and respected Aboriginal performer and Elder.

He grew up on Country at Toomelah Aboriginal Mission Station on the border of Northern NSW and Qld, within the Gomeroi Nation. Singing is such a significant part of Aboriginal learning and culture, and Uncle Roger acknowledges its importance in bringing people together for healing, self-awareness and the awakening of their heritage. He has used music to build cultural capacity within his own family and many of his children and grandchildren are professional musicians, performers and artists.

His band Euraba boasts family musicians spanning three generations and is a fantastic testament to his standing as the patriarch within his family, A regular at most of the big cultural festivals across Australia, Roger enjoys a celebrated career and has wowed crowds at Woodford Folk Festival, Sydney Festival, WOMADelaide and Yabun. In addition to the larger cultural festivals Uncle Roger regularly supports his community, engaging in fund raising and promoting educational activities within schools. He is a strong advocate for drug-and alcohol-free living and has dedicated his life to uplifting his people’s spirits. He performs regularly in jails throughout Australia, Canada and the USA.

Uncle Roger Knox has been recognized over the years with countless awards for his talent. At this year’s Tamworth Country Music Festival he had the great honour of becoming the 2022 inductee into the Galaxy of Stars – joining the ranks of Slim Dusty and Troy Caser-Daley. Roger Knox was also inducted into the National Indigenous Music Awards Hall of Fame in 2018.

Please join Uncle Roger and Uncle Robbie in conversation followed by an acoustic performance.
