From Halifax / Montreal Canada, Purity Ring are one of the most intriguing new acts in left field pop. Just announced for Golden Plains in March, the duo will bring their otherworldly rapture to Oxford Art Factory, Sydney.

Corin Roddick and Megan James, both in their early twenties, formed Purity Ring in late 2010. Midway through 2012, they released their assured debut record Shrines on 4AD/ Remote Control, introducing the world to their eerie, inviting universe.

Keeping things fresh, they recently enlisted rapper Danny Brown for a sequel to Shrines 'Belispeak' entitled "Belispeak II".

The duo make lullabies for the club, drawing equally from airy 90s R&B, lush dream pop, and the powerful, bone-rattling immediacy of modern hip hop. Megan's remarkable voice is at once ecstatic and ethereal, soaring joyfully through Corin's carefully chopped beats, trembling synths, and skewed vocal samples.

The first song their collaboration produced was 'Ungirthed', which became the launching pad for what is now being heralded as future pop.

Purity Ring enthrall their audience with a carefully considered live show formed around a dynamic lighting rig. Built by Corin himself, it literally brings the music to life, as a web of futuristic coloured orbs light up and dim according to his improvisational live production techniques.

Guaranteed to inspire non-stop head bobbing, prepare to be hypnotized by this aural and visual wonder.

Joining Purity Ring for all headline shows is Headaches (Landon Speers). Hailing from the Canadian prairies, Headaches combines his fertile, close knit upbringings with the dance floor aesthetics of his new home, New York. Having supported Purity Ring on their 2012 North American tour, Headaches has been primed to join them in Australia with his immersive club-leaning sounds.

Sydney based duo Fishing will support Purity Ring in Melbourne and Sydney. Fishing are native to the Blue Mountains and you can hear it in their music; deep, beat-driven ocean-scapes that sweep you far away.
