Duke of George presents

Pete Denahy

At the age of 11, Pete Denahy, already knew that he wanted to be a country singer.

He taught himself guitar and started writing songs, but it was seeing Slim Dusty in concert for the first time that set him on the path to a music career. Little did he know at the time that only 12 years later he would be working in Slim’s band as a fiddle player and doing a comedy spot on the show.

Well known for his silly, some might even say zany, comedy songs, Pete is no stranger to writing a heart wrencher, but he is fully aware that his songs about Insects and Toilet Paper hold special places in the hearts of his fans.

His latest record, “She Loves Me To The Moon” is a a traditional country album, featuring his own fiddle playing, twangy guitars and wailing pedal steel. Produced by Simon Johnson at Hillbilly Hut Studio, it includes some of Australia’s best studio musicians and a collection of new tracks penned with help from the Wolfe Brothers, Mike Carr, Bill Whyte and Evan Murphy.

A five-time Golden Guitar winner, including three for his fiddle playing - an instrument that has kept him in work for many years - Pete has also worked with some of Australia’s finest artists including Lee Kernaghan, Sara Storer and Troy Cassar-Daley.

Never one to sit still, Pete also runs his own travel company, taking Australian music fans to Japan to explore the amazing and burgeoning bluegrass and country scene there.
