Event Details

Returning to Melbourne for her first headline show in almost two years, audiences will witness the Australian premiere of Audrey Powne’s critically acclaimed 2024 release, From The Fire—performed in its entirety for the first time with full band and string quartet.

Lauded by legendary BBC Radio 6 presenter and tastemaker Gilles Peterson, From The Fire showcases Powne's unique style—from hook-laden synth-pop to long-form cinematic soundscapes, RnB ballads to free jazz improvisations—there are few genres Powne has not touched. Her musical inspiration is equally far-reaching, with influences ranging from Miles Davis, Betty Carter and Herbie Hancock right through to Roy Hargrove, Meshell Ndegeocello and D’Angelo.

Alongside her solo work, Powne’s performances with notable acts such as Maceo Parker, Midnight Oil, Paul Grabowsky and The Teskey Brothers have cemented her position as one of Australia's most in-demand musicians.
