La Descarga, the dynamic Afro-Latin-Australian band known for their explosive performances and vibrant fusion of traditional Colombian and contemporary Australian sounds, is thrilled to announce the launch of their debut album, Fiesta de Corazón, at a special family-friendly event on Saturday, November 30, 2024, at the Brunswick Ballroom. The event, running from 1:00 pm to 4:00 pm, will also feature performances by Brazilian Carnival outfit Agobloco and Brisbane’s tropical DJ pro, Paprika. 

About the Album: 

Fiesta de Corazón is more than just an album; it’s a vibrant celebration of the rich cultural heritage of Colombia, infused with the contemporary urban sounds of Australia. After seven years in the making, this collection of ten original tracks blends Afro-Colombian traditions with funk, dub, and electronica, creating a heartfelt tropical musical journey. The album includes collaborations with renowned artists such as South artists Sudanese  Ajak Kwai and Malesh P, Australian Didgeridoo player Sean Candy, Colombian Pacific ensemble Bejuco, Llorona records producer Diego Gomez and many more. The album is visually brought to life by stunning cover art from Colombian artist Dora Moreno Zúñiga. 

About the Event: 

On the day of the launch, La Descarga’s 12-piece band will bring the album to life with a mix of traditional Colombian percussion, gaita flutes, dub-bass, a powerful brass section and special guests, all enhanced by vibrant tropical carnival costumes and captivating visual projections.  

The fiesta atmosphere will be amplified by Melbourne’s Brazilian Carnival outfit Agobloco and DJ Paprika, who will keep the energy high with an irresistible mix of Latin and tropical beats. 

This event is perfect for families, with a dedicated Chillax room available for the little ones to unwind and recharge. Expect a whirlwind of music, dance, and dress-ups, with plenty of surprises.
