Folk Rock

Josh Orange – The juices are flowing for Australian Folk Rockers, Josh Orange. The band recently released their fifth studio album “Birds for The Bayou”, and it has been described as …”Outstanding, a marvelous sonic journey” (Thoughts Words Actions-August 24) …”Tastefully dissonant with a distinctly vintage, yet original sound, as it houses the playfulness of a Modest Mouse and The War on Drugs-style vocals while keeping their pop folk roots at the forefront of the sound.” (Music Mecca July 24).

Frontman Gordon Burke hails from Drimnagh in Dublin 12 and celebrated the release with a trip to Dublin and a sold out Whelan’s show in August 2024. Joined onstage by long time friend Gavin Glass, and producer Pete Holidai. The Irish born singer/songwriter is the son of Royal Showband guitarist Fergus Burke, and he describes growing up around some of Irelands finest musicians as a lot of fun with plenty of sound checks as a kid.

Winner of the 2022 SAW (Mid Atlantic Songwriting Competition) with their track “I Will Follow You”, which also made Number 1 on Australia’s AMRAP Metro Singles Chart. Josh Orange released the first official single and video clip from their new album “Devil at The Backdoor” on November 1st 2024. The song peaked at Number 3 on The Amrap Metro Charts in November 2024.

Josh Orange were formed in Glebe in Sydney's Inner West in 2004, and released their debut album in 2006. Their 2021 break-out album was Midnight Lights. Now they are back with their fifth album Birds For The Bayou, an 11-track Opus. The band was founded by guitarist Andrew Wass, and singer Gordon Burke, Alex Miller joined on drums in 2006, and Gavin Perkins on bass guitar for the past two albums.
