Perth five-piece Grievous Bodily Calm have become renowned for their genre-blending signature instrumental sound – a unique aesthetic of produced beats with the added dynamic of real time improvisation.

Grievous Bodily Calm have announced their forthcoming third independent EP ‘Cascades’ due for release on Fri Aug 4 via their own label Thought Tapes, alongside a national headline tour of Australia.

The five piece collective from Perth’s genre-blending signature instrumental sound and high energy live show infuses IDM, beat music and jazz improvisation with modern electronic production and has seen them support artists such as Tame Impala, Black Midi, The Avalanches, Hiatus Kaiyote, Pond and the legendary Mulatu Astatke, as well as numerous festival appearances and sold out headline shows off the back of two acclaimed previous independent releases - Repel (2019) & Arc (2020). Noted praise from outlets includes Clash Magazine, COLORS, NME, Earmilk, Worldwide FM, The Lot Radio, Bandcamp, triple j and a triple j Unearthed Feature Artist selection.

Following a year of national touring - including standout performances at the Sydney Opera House, Bigsound, Panama Festival, Perth Festival & Dark Mofo - the band will embark on their first national headline tour of Australia to support ‘Cascades’, a collection of songs that take a significant step in their craft and strength of statement exploring a multitude of instrumental combinations, formal and harmonic devices resulting in a unique product full of heart.
