Grace Cummings’ voice is unusually gruff, rootsy and ragged as car wheels skidding over rocks. Born in Victoria, Australia, where the land is constantly under threat by bushfires, Cummings was drawn to the cragginess of Bob Dylan and Australian singer-songwriter Paul Kelly, as well as to the vivid melancholy of traditional Irish folk music. As a teenager, she played drums in a series of AC/DC and Jimi Hendrix cover bands. Today, she performs a mixture of canyon-inspired folk music and blues rock, the full tapestry of her influences on clear display.
We've had her here at the pub once before, she was actually the first artist to play when we took over in late 2019. Since then Cummings has released several records to critical acclaim worldwide. Her most recent release, RAMONA was recorded with Jonathan Wilson (Father John Misty, Angel Olsen) at his Topanga Canyon studio, a master work of unbridled theatricality and emotion.
With a growing international fanbase and appearances on Stephen Colbert's Late Night 'Show Me The Music' and KEXP Live this year, we're excited to welcome Grace to the Northern Rivers for a solo show while she enjoys a bit of down time before things kick back into gear over 2025.
