Duke of George presents

Frank Sultana

Don’t miss NSW blues/roots artist Frank Sultana as he drops in at the Duke for one night only before heading to Blues at Bridgetown 2024.

In January 2023, among a field of 150 artists from around the world, Australian bluesman Frank Sultana competed in and won the solo/duo section of the International Blues Challenge in Memphis Tennessee. He is only the third Australian to do so in the events 40 year history.

Just 2 days after this historic win, he spent 4 hours at the iconic Sun Studios in Memphis, and recorded what would become 'The Ghosts of Sun', his new album. He selected 12 original songs from his 12 year back catalogue and delivered them in a raw stripped back traditional blues style, with just guitar, voice and stomp box.

Frank has graced many festival stages here in Australia, including Bluesfest and Blues on Broadbeach, and played sold out headline shows through the rest of 2023/24, including a return to the US in Aug/Sept 2023 to play the Durango Blues Train in Colorado and the Big Blues Bender in Las Vegas Nevada.

He also took home 4 Sydney Blues Society Awards in 2023 for:

Best Songwriter

Artists Choice

Best Traditional Blues

Artist of the Year

In Feb of 2024 he again performed in the US, this time on the Legendary Blues Cruise #40 alongside legendary blues acts like Taj Mahal, Keb Mo, Kingfish and many others.

At the 2024 Sydney Blues Society Awards, he took out the Best Songwriter award for the second year running.

He has a new album recorded and set for release later in the year.
