Spokesman for the group Brian Loffler said they are all very much looking forward to playing in Bridgewater.  “We have performed individually in the Adelaide Hills on many occasions, but this will be the first time for us as Fossils,” Mr Loffler said.
He went on to say: "It’s been a very tough time for musicians, arts-workers and performance venues during the pandemic, so we’re delighted to help with this fundraiser for the Bridgewater Arts Centre.
“2018 was a huge year for Fossils folk group when singer-songwriter Peter Combe was awarded a star at the launch of the Adelaide Festival Centre Walk of Fame.  A few months later we played to a packed-out audience of more than 400 in Loxton. That brought the total raised through our fundraising concerts to $37,000.
“In the 2020 Australia Day Honours, Peter was awarded an OAM in recognition of his service to the performing arts.”
Fossils folk group was formed in 2014 to revive the popular folk music of the 60s and 70s. It’s the powerful lyrics, unforgettable melodies, and superb harmonies that Fossils will bring to the Bridgewater Arts Centre on July 2nd.
Peter Combe is best known as a children’s entertainer – for which he has received three ARIA awards for Best Children's Album, plus 7 gold and 3 platinum awards – but that won’t be the repertoire at the Bridgewater concert.
Instead, he’ll be singing many of the songs that first inspired him to make a career as a singer-songwriter: the unforgettable folk songs of the 60s and 70s made famous by the likes of Bob Dylan and Peter, Paul and Mary. A few of the favourites that Fossils will present include “The Times They Are a-Changin'”, “Pack Up Your Sorrows” and “Leaving on a Jet Plane”.
Peter will be joined on stage by the four other Fossils musicians who are bound together through the love of the brilliant songs and finger-style guitar-work that so characterised the folk music of the era: Monica Christian, Alan Hartley, Hughy Rudham and Brian Loffler.
