Rising Soul & RnB artists Emma Volard andRuby Jackson are hitting the road together in September! A musical friendship forged through love of songwriting, free-flowing improvisation and a shared love for groove music, the Naarm/Melbourne and Eora/Sydney based acts have announced their co-headline tour, joining forces to bring their dazzling shows across the east coast of Australia.

Kicking off their tour on Friday 6 September at Melbourne’s renowned music venue The Night Cat, the run of shows will continue on to Brisbane on Friday 13 September at The Valley Loft, then wrapping up at Mary’s Underground in Sydney on Saturday 14 September.

“I first met Emma up at Brisbane’s BIGSOUND ‘23 and was in absolute awe of her show…The stage presence, musicality and her crazy beautiful vocals had myself & the whole room captivated. I had a feeling that soon enough our worlds would collide, and we had both spoken about the idea of a show together pretty early on. For my first tour to be alongside Emma is crazy special…I can’t wait for everyone to witness the Emma Volard magic!”– Ruby Jackson

“It is such an honour and dream to be touring with Ruby!! Since day one, we connected over our favourite artists, silly humour and love for jazz. Ruby is a one-of-a-kind songwriter. It just comes so naturally to her, and I feel genuinely blessed to be around her creative wizardry!”– Emma Volard

EMMA VOLARD

Emma Volard is a future-soul artist whose music has made huge waves in the "so-called Australian" industry, garnering attention from Australian (Triple J) and international tastemakers (BBC) alike. From Emma’s sophomore solo release in 2019 neo-soul jam‘Arachne (Feat Pascal)’to their hard-hitting feminist LP Deity, their music has continued to evolve, landing them festivals including Meadow, Big Sound and WOMAD, and pivotal supports such as Corey Henry and Thundercat. After the avalanche success of their debut album Deity in 2022, future soul artist Emma Volard released their sophomore album Alibi.

Alibi represents years spent honing a signature sound that encapsulates Naarm / Melbourne’s experimental neo-soul and jazz scene. Emma has never shied away from being a warrior for inclusivity, and these themes are often at the forefront of their storytelling. This has placed them as a leader within the Naarm music community, and turned the heads of industry heavyweights such as Gilles Peterson, Jamz Supernova, Thundercat, Cory Henry and Zan Rowe. Alibi sees Emma stepping confidently into their own sonic world, expanding further on their introspective storytelling and pushing the limits of the future soul sound.

Of the new album, Emma reflects “Alibi is an album that I used as a means to dive into my own experiences head-on. Gravely real and at times confronting, it debates the wholly complex and resilient growth of finding oneself and grieving the life I once thought I needed. I wanted to write an album set for the intimacy and darkness of the dance floor. Music and dance are so deeply moving, and give the space for collective healing and self-expression. That's what this album was made for; connection, expression and restoration.”

RUBY JACKSON

Hailed as“the little black dress in your wardrobe, an instant classic” (FBi Radio)Ruby Jackson is becoming a central figure in the Australian R&B/Jazz scene. Sydney-based songwriter and performer, Ruby Jackson, began her journey at The Sydney Conservatorium of Music, where she honed her composition skills. Since completing her studies, Ruby has been quickly flourishing into one of Sydney’s most world-class creators of music, with songs that continuously strike a chord with her audience. In 2023, Ruby's singles'Out Of Fashion','Guilty Pleasure', and'You’ve Changed' dominated the airwaves, earning Double J rotation, triple j Unearthed rotation, alongside radio-play support from triple j, iHeartRadio and community radios nationwide.

Off the back of her impressive performances at BIGSOUND and SXSW Sydney in September 2023, Ruby released her much-anticipated debut EP Sweeter For Me in November, a timeless 5-track record that tells a series of sincere stories with a beautiful, honesty delivery - everything a debut should do. Fuelled by 2000s RnB Pop nostalgia,Sweeter For Me has recently been nominated for the 2024 AIR Awards (Australian Independent Record Labels Association) for Best Independent Soul/R&B Album or EP.

Jackson has a way of cultivating her own lane that is unique, special, and deeply connected to her community. Her music, authenticity, and honest delivery shines brighter than ever during every live show, allowing her to form this timeless and unbreakable bond between her artistry & audiences. This has been recognised during Ruby’s captivating opening set for Ball Park Music as part of Sydney’s Twilight at Taronga 2024, her opening performance for International sensation Morcheeba (UK) at The Tivoli, a sold-out headline show at The Lansdowne in Sydney, followed by two recent stunning performances at one of Australia's premier music festival Blues On Broadbeach.

Don’t miss the chance to experience this soulful sophistication that is Emma Volard & Ruby Jackson!
