Duke of George presents

Duende Indalo's Debut Album Launch

Inspired by the likes of Dhafer Youssef, Antonio Forcione and bass guitar mastery reminiscent of Jaco Pastorius, instrumental genre crossing musicians Duende Indalo play an eclectic mix of world music fusing together Flamenco, Jazz, Middle Eastern, Latin and ambient sounds to create something wholly unique. Duende Indalo play with virtuosic rigor to create music that will transport you to every corner of the globe.

Featuring the like of legendary bassist Roy Martinez (Gina Williams, Hank Marvin, Dave Man Collective, Natalie Gillespie), virtuosic jazz drummer Greg Brenton (Steve Hensby Band, Mace Francis Orchestra), classical guitarist maestro Karl Hiller (Odette Mercy and Her Soul Atomics, Grace Barbe-Afro Kreol, Soukouss Internationale), multi-instrumentalist Tony Borthwick on soprano and tenor saxophone, flute and bansuri and accomplished Indian classically trained tabla player and percussionist Parvin Hari, Duende Indalo create music that is both soulful and expressive and yet masterfully technical and musically refined.  Duende Indalo are mystifying audiences in sold out venues with their beautifully crafted and unforgettable performances.

Sewing together a shared love for European Jazz and Classical Music, and with decades of experience writing for and performing in ensembles from progressive rock to Congolese dance, Karl Hiller and Tony Borwick sparked a musical partnership and forged a sound that spans both culture and genre. With the addition of Singaporean born bassist virtuoso Roy Martinez and an array of drummers, vocalists and string players, Duende Indalo have created an album of instrumental music that is at the same time highly technical and yet soulful and beautiful. The band will be celebrating the release of their highly anticipated debut album at the Duke of George on Friday, September 22 in spectacular form with an extended band and string section, performing two big sets including the album in full.

“Welcome to a new world, a new dimension of musical ability, and a new way to connect with esoteric sounds from across the globe. Duende Indalo combine superior musicianship, creative epiphany and expansive soundscapes.”  Dr Laura Glitsos, Edith Cowen University
