Duke of George presents
Catherine Summers Quartet 'Absolute Favourites'
Perth premier jazz singer Catherine Summers is a true delight to watch, renowned for her unique, dulcet voice and down-to-earth, engaging stage presence. Audiences are often struck by an 'instantly familiar' vibe about her, as if they've known her for years.
Since bursting onto the music scene in 2009, the UK-born Australian singer has become one of the city’s most sought-after performers, gracing top venues, festivals, and high-end functions.
Catherine is bringing a broad repertoire of jazz favourites, featuring timeless standards from The Great American Songbook and beloved classics by Ella Fitzgerald, Billie Holiday, Anita O’Day, Duke Ellington, Frank Sinatra, Nina Simone, and more.
Helping curate this wonderful evening is Auntie Pat who has loved Catherine’s music and style since the very beginning. Now in her 90s, and following Catherine’s career Auntie Pat’s favourites from her vast repertoire include classics such as I’ve Got You Under My Skin, What A Difference A Day Makes, Cheek To Cheek, What A Wonderful World and many more.
This journey of jazz life through beautiful songs spans across nine decades. The show will kick off with an energetic rendition of a Charleston classic, reminiscent of Auntie Pat's dancing days at Moana Hall in Perth and more hits of the time thoroughout he show.
With a career marked by accolades and glowing reviews, Catherine continues to captivate audiences as a sell-out artist. Her versatility, charisma, and authentic warmth shine through in every performance. Joining her on stage are some of Perth’s most treasured musicians, Vaughan Jameson (guitar), Shane Pooley (Double Bass) and Dan Harrison (drums).
The evening will be a journey through timeless jazz classics, handpicked by Auntie Pat herself, celebrating her extraordinary life and love for Catherine’s music.
"Catherine Summers, a glittering gem with a show to match. Such is her popularity that our own hometown jazz chanteuse fills Lamont’s rose garden. Her great strength and beauty is not only her voice (which is pitch perfect), but the warm and engaging way her storytelling unfolds." ★★★★★ Xpress Magazine, 2024
