After returning earlier this month with their first track in 2019, Melbourne duo REMI today release the weird and wonderful visual for “5 A.M.” feat. Whosane. The pair also announce their only headline tour dates for 2019 this November, presented by House of Beige and Niche.

After premiering on triple j Good Nights, “5 A.M.” has found a world of love across the nations airwaves. Directed by cinematographer and filmmaker Barun Chatterjee, the video sees the trio wide-awake at 5am. In the dark and moody early morning, they weave through genres and moods with dynamic aesthetics and styling to match. Combining Remi Kolawole’s vocals with Sensible J’s world-class production and peaking with an old-school soulful R&B bridge thanks to Whosane, it is no surprise why theduo continue to hold reign at the top of Australia’s world class hip hop sphere. Chatterjee on the video:

“It’s 5 am, the world is asleep. But Remi is awake. He is awake every night, trying to blend up a wild and fruity elixir. Will he perfect his recipe, or will it turn out to be a toxic witches brew? 5 A.M. is a multi-layered track musically and lyrically. The accompanying video is the same. It takes a dark story and dances through genres and moods, standing by Remi’s side as he crosses between silky smooth vocals and strong, punctuated rap versus”

An unreplicable duo, REMI have been making waves in the industry since emerging onto the scene in 2014. Keeping in great company, the pair have had a number of stellar collaborations with fellow AMP-winner Sampa The Great, Manchester’s R&B/Soul singer [ K S R ] and Jordan Rakei on their triple j feature & ARIA nominated sophomore album, Divas and Demons.

With a limitless talent between the magical pairing of Remi Kolawole and Sensible J, “5 A.M.” and its accompanying video only further affirms immensely captivating and innovative musical talents of the hip hop heavyweights. With a new visual and shows on the horizon, REMI are set to make their mark on 2019 and beyond.
