Deep Street Soul
Hail from Melbourne and are at the forefront of the current explosion in Australian Funk music! Deep Street Soul formed in 2006 and are made up of funk DJ & drummer Sol Loco, bass player & soul aficionado Papa 'J' Hunter, Steve Cropper disciple' Matt 'MG' Green and Queen of the Hammond Organ Monique 'Mon Cherie' Boggia. Inspired by the breakout of Nu funk throughout Europe the States and Japan they hit the clubs. Starting with an initial batch of Booker T & Meters covers, these quickly morphed into their own set of break filled funk & soul taking Australia by storm in the process.
Their debut album released on UK based Freestyle Records in late 09 has shaken club foundations around the world and this show will follow their first ever tour of the UK and Europe in April.
Heavy, fresh and extremely danceable, Deep Street Soul are a live experience not to be missed.

Recording under the names Trouble Man, The Jedi Knights and most recently Harmonic 313 his multitude of releases on Warp, Far Out Records and others have crossed over and won Mark a cult following around the world. His DJ sets are influenced by Afro, Brazilian, Soul, Jazz and Hip Hop creating some of the most extraordinary soundscapes youre likely to hear.
Paper Plane Project
Are an exciting Hip Hop/Jazz crew from Perth born after a record digging trip to Brazil. The music and the culture of the South American country had a major effect on the guys who are now making it a regular destination for musical inspiration. Paper Plane Project's sound is all about that old-school Sunday afternoon party in the park, bringing soulful beats and vibes back into the realm of hip-hop and beyond.
Russ Dewbury
Russ provides the Jazz Rooms unique soundtrack connecting cutting edge dance vibrations from all strands of black music past present and future. With a firm emphasis on dance floor energy, expect full on club sessions through the evening and after the band until late. Top Afro percussionist Dia Ibrahim will be joining Russ for this appearance.
