WOMADelaide X NSS Academy Showcase

WOMADELAIDE X NSS ACADEMY SHOWCASE RETURNS!

Northern Sound System (NSS) and WOMADelaide are pleased to announce the return of the WOMADelaide x NSS Academy showcase – unearthing new talent and celebrating the vibrancy of our culturally diverse landscape – at an all-ages, live music event on Saturday 9 November 2024 at NSS.

Since its inception in 2020, the WOMADelaide x NSS Academy has been a trailblazing program nurturing new talent and early-career music artists – with a particular focus on First Nations and culturally diverse voices, equipping them with the tools, guidance, and opportunities to thrive in music and live performance.

WOMADelaide x NSS Academy Project Coordinator, Bianca Nilsson says “I’m thrilled for this year’s Academy artists. It has been such a pleasure working with them for the past few months and I’m excited to see them take the stage at the Academy Showcase and show us what they’ve been working on this year.”

The showcase will feature live performances from the five selected 2024 Academy artists - Sri Lankan R&B/pop singer Meena De Silva; Burmese-Chinese genre-blending vocalist Sandra Gan; proud Eastern Arrernte (First Nations) rapper Bousta; Nigerian Afrobeats artist Bidemi; and soulful Tanzanian-born singer Shukurani, who brings her Burundian heritage to the stage.

The WOMADelaide X NSS Academy is an annual music development program that continues to create tangible career pathways for aspiring young artists and propel them into the spotlight and has led to many of the alumni being programmed on WOMADelaide’s global stage.

Join us in celebrating these new voices in an exciting evening of music and culture on Saturday 9 November 2024 at 6:30pm at Northern Sound System, 73 Elizabeth Way, Elizabeth.

The showcase is a free, all-ages event, but attendees need to register for tickets (at no cost).
