90s post punk funk

Attention people, after many years of radio silence, 90s post punk funk band The Strange have been heard from and will return to Sydney for one night only at the Lazybones Lounge. Their unique blend of high energy grooves and entertainment will be both a refreshing blast from the past and an antidote to the woes of the world.

When their plane disappeared from radar over the ocean in the mid 90s, all manner of conspiracy theories emerged about their whereabouts and activities since. Despite the odd radio contact, very little is known about what they’ve been up to, but the last message received said they’ll touch down in Sydney for just the one night in September. Captain Splash (Joe Accaria, drums) could be heard yelling something about the Harbourside Brasserie, while Flight Commander Timmy (Tim Hall, guitar, vox) told him to update the contents of his pipe. Chief Pilot TC (Tim Campbell, guitar) was warning of an impending mountain, while Engineer and Bombardier RamblinJ (Jed Wesley-Smith, bass) mumbled something incomprehensible about the stow-away (Al Goodman, keys).

The band have categorically denied most of the outlandish rumours and theories, especially being behind the global financial crisis, the rise of right wing authoritanism, and climate change, despite considerable carbon dioxide emissions from their extensive touring schedules. They are particularly aggrieved to be blamed that their absence created the space for the rise of populists such as Donald Trump, saying “How the fuck would we know, we weren’t even there?”

The Strange will be joined on the night by old friends The Gold Rockets
