Sydney's 'emo fairy' September Curse is set to celebrate the release of her debut EP The September Curse on the 23d of May at Bootleggers in Newtown. 

September Curse is a conceptual artist who takes from her experiences of heartbreak and longing to create honest music that explores identity, mental health, and romance. Inspired by various art forms, September Curse draws from film and design to further expand her vision, paying close attention to the visuals and narrative behind her work. Her musical influences include a wide range of artists like Cavetown, Dodie, and Taylor Swift as well as bands like Teenage Joans, Pale Waves, and The Maine. Much like those artists, she is unafraid to showcase the hardest parts of her reality through both infectiously fun and gutwrenchingly sad melodies and lyrics. 

Supporting the show is Tayalealani, a local Sydney artist whose haunting melodies will hook you and leave you wanting more. Her passion for every area of music and raw approach to vulnerability make for great storytelling as she reveals her heart and soul to the audience. With playful melodies and heartbreaking lyrics, Taya’s music will leave you broken but make you feel seen and understood. 

Opening up the night is Lovehouse, an alt indie songwriter duo who create guitar centric songs with lyrics about heartache, growth and longing. Their work is dreamy and poetic and while listening you’re invited into nostalgic personal diary entries that feel like a knot in your throat and late nights alone.
