Our favourite local selectors spinning vinyl every Sunday upstairs.

Sunday's are best when partaking in one thing—a good sesh. To curate a cruisy arvo of beers and beats, we've asked our favourite local Tassie personalities to share their record collections with us.

Join us every Sunday for free and catch a variety of radio hosts, hospo heads, politicians, shop owners, sports personalities and next door neighbours as they play their favourite vinyl for 3 hours upstairs at Altar Bar. Cheap drinks and bites served all day. Who's record collection do you want a peek at? Let us know!

First up—local comedian and everyone's mate - Aaron Maxwell!

Aaron Maxwell is a wildcard comedian who despite everything we know about him somehow made it to a RAW state final, and has been riding that wave ever since. If he's not busy being a corporate drone or dealing with his daughters, he's either playing video games or combining his coping mechanisms of comedy and beers by getting on stage and telling his funny little stories.

1) If you were stuck on a desert island but had the opportunity to grab 5 records, what would they be?
Oooooo... ok, well I'd be grabbing from my current collection, which admittedly is not that big, but it is mighty. I would probably grab a combination of my most valuable/rare and most meaningful. I'm going to exercise my right to a technicality as well and say that a box set counts as one record.
Pantera - The Complete Studio Albums 1990-2000
Jerry Cantrell - Degradation Trip volumes 1&2
Southern Sons' self-titled effort (so I can listen to Hold Me In Your Arms on the island, crying into my coconuts on a daily basis)
Ghost - Impera
Jeff Buckley's Grace would have to come with me as well. I can't imagine not hearing Jeff again for the rest of my potentially short island life.

2) What's the worst record you own?
I've stopped being ashamed of my musical tastes. There used to be a time when I'd say I had a "guilty pleasure" but now there's no guilt. Just pleasure. That said, it's obviously Lady Gaga - The Fame. And yes, I'll be bringing it.

3) What can people expect from your collection as far as genres, eras and artists?
We're talking 70s through to now. Not gonna lie, there's going to be a lot of rock, and a fair bit of metal. There's some pop, there's some hip hop, there's 80s classics. There are some tunes your mum definitely won't like but several she will. I've got John Farnham hiding in there. Daryl Braithwaite is not an impossibility. But neither is Opeth. I will be opening several of these records for the first time immediately devaluing them for your and my listening pleasure. Let's go.
