Spotlight on the Arts
Is Adelaide’s arts infrastructure keeping up with our ambitions?
InReview and Light are joining forces to present a series of provocative forums on the future of the arts in South Australia. We began with the key question of funding and now we’re turning our attention to infrastructure – theatres and other performance spaces, as well as places for people to learn and engage with the arts.
Join our expert panel at The Lab for a discussion of all the issues. Adelaide sees itself as the nation’s festival city, but do we have the infrastructure to support and grow this claim? Why are we the only major city without a concert hall? Why have we lost theatre spaces over the past few decades? How do we balance the sometimes competing demands of our major companies? What role do private organisations and investors have to play?
InReview’s David Washington will unpack the issues with an expert panel including outgoing Adelaide Festival director Rachel Healy, UKARIA CEO Alison Beare, and former Director of the University of Adelaide's Elder Conservatorium, Graeme Koehne.
There will be plenty of time for questions from the audience and the event will be recorded by InReview for release as a podcast.
Why not make a night of it and preorder a cheese platter to collect prior to the show, stay for a drink at the bar, or book a table for dinner from 7:30 onwards at Aurora to debrief after what is guaranteed to be an engaging and thought provoking forum.
