Over the past two decades, Something for Kate have become one of Australia s most successful and respected bands. They have released six top ten albums, a double album of B-sides, a Best-of album, a DVD, a live album, a video collection, three E.P s, and 24 singles. Having sold over half a million records and amassed a staggering 16 Australian Record Industry Awards nominations (ARIAS), Something for Kate are a household name and yet still maintain an enigmatic presence on the Australian musical landscape.
This is perhaps because to their credit, their music has proven difficult to classify - cerebral, subtle and original, the band have an enormous and fiercely loyal cult-like following. They have won Australian Music Industry Critics Awards for their intense live performances, Rolling Stone gongs for Best Band, Best Album & Best Male Vocalist along with countless other awards, and have toured with everyone from David Bowie to Death Cab for Cutie
Following the explosive success of Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever's debut EP, Talk Tight, last year, the raucous Melbourne five-piece have been added to the Spectrum Now Festival in support of Something For Kate. With their latest single Write Back released in mid-February, the band have cemented their position as an act to watch in 2016, already receiving praise from Triple J, Rolling Stone and Stereogum.
The Big Top concert series is a licensed, all ages (16+ recommended) event. Spectrum Now Festival recommends parents/guardians should consider whether the Big Top concert is appropriate for their child and recommends that any children under 16 years of age who attend the Big Top are accompanied by their parent or guardian. Persons who are 18 years of age or older and wish to purchase alcohol MUST have valid photo ID (passport, Australian driver's license, proof of age card). Spectrum Now Festival @ The Domain welcomes and caterers for all ages, is family friendly and free to attend outside of the ticketed Big Top events.
The Sydney Morning Herald Spectrum Now Festival presented by ANZ is Sydney's newest cultural festival, returning in March 2016 for its second year. The festival is set to entertain and amaze, with free and ticketed events across art, music, stage and talks, including a limited capacity Big Top venue installed in Sydney's Domain to house 11 nights of music and comedy.
