Space Jams Volume 4 — Wing Defence
Adelaide pop-punk duo Wing Defence is set to headline the debut live event for COVID-fuelled live music initiative Space Jams on Saturday 15 August at Hindley Street’s Jive.
Wing Defence, Seabass, Indiago, Ollie English, Twin Decoy, Young Offenders (DJ set), Notorious VAG (DJ set)
Hosted by Clay McMath
Crowned as the most popular Punk artist at the 2019 South Australian Music Awards in 2019 — and having previously performed at Glastonbury, Groovin The Moo and Laneway — who better to headline this the debut live Space Jams event. The pop-punk duo will also be joined by Seabass, Indiago, Ollie English and Twin Decoy, with DJ sets from Young Offenders and Notorious VAG.
Space Jams was originally promoted as a “one-time virtual music concert [that was] live streamed via Instagram” in response to COVID-19 back in March. After gaining financial support from the State Government’s repurposed Project Support Grants, the initiative quickly transformed into a monthly virtual music festival that showcased the best of SA music. Thanks to the recent easing of South Australia’s social-distancing restrictions, Space Jams is excited to provide an opportunity for Adelaide musicians and audiences to enjoy live music together again.
Space Jams Founder Josh Morphett states that “...the plan is for Space Jams to continue to transform so that local musicians can continue to perform, despite being in the middle of a global pandemic. With the rate that everything’s been changing in Adelaide, who knows what we’ll pull off next!”.
Adelaide live music venues would usually be buzzing at this time of year with annual winter festivals including Umbrella Winter City Sounds, A Day of Clarity and Stonecutters which have all been cancelled or postponed for 2020. Morphett hopes that Space Jams – along with similar initiatives like Sunny Side Uploads and Knock Off Sessions – can continue to keep South Australian music-lovers warm this winter, while also lining the pockets of local musicians at a time they need it the most.
Space Jams Volume 4 on sale now via Moshtix. Tickets are limited and will sell out.
