 Swamp pop, a captivating blend of rhythm and blues, country, and Cajun music, emerged from the bayous of southern Louisiana in the 1950s. Its infectious rhythms and heartfelt lyrics have captivated music lovers for generations.
 
 Join us for an unforgettable afternoon featuring live performances by local legends BENNY & THE FLYBYNITERS and THE RECHORDS, along with special guests IAN COLLARD, LORETTA MILLER,  EZRA LEE and more.
 
 PBS FM DJs MOHAIR SLIM and JIM DANDY will spin vintage swamp pop vinyl, transporting you back to the golden age of this beloved genre.
 
 Swamp pop's origins can be traced to the vibrant Creole culture of Louisiana, where musicians blended traditional Cajun melodies with the bluesy sounds of New Orleans. Major exponents of the genre include the legendary Slim Harpo, Warren Storm, Bobby Charles and Tommy McLain, whose soulful vocals and sweet melodies continue to inspire musicians today.
