An R&B, funk and World music odyssey of original music.

Rhys Wilson: Going West Album Launch

Hi I’m David Rhys Jenkins, drummer songwriting resident of Apollo Bay. I’m the drummer from the recent Tonight We Anchor in Apollo Bay show. I’m also the Rhys part of the Rhys Wilson CD album launch show at the Mechanics Hall, on January 25th, 2025, together with my song writing buddy Chris Wilson (Renee Geyer, Broderick Smith, Buster Brown) and a live band.

Listen on YouTube to a few songs:

So what can you expect from the album show launch song by song?

Going West, a powerful sea change song, Steely Dan style

A New World, modern funk rock about being true to yourself and in touch with your soul.

Funkify, the title captures it, sensational jiving funk with saxophone, “A cauldron of delight”

A Better Place, contemporary dance funk, “Vowing we gotta make the world a better place to live ”

World Power, straight ahead grunge rock, pleading for world peace, 2 Strats fighting it out

Monique, power ballad craving the return of a much desired love

How I Roll, muscular flat out blues rock, sung by the sensational Benita Evans, “I am strong and I’m able, Don’t expect me to set your table, The rough with the smooth, that’s how I roll”

Looking For My Goddess, homage to the Stones, Beatles and Small Faces, 60s psychedelic dance rock

You Said, where the world music reaches its peak, Latin, funk, Spanish rock, about pure true love betrayed

Good Time Charlie, ever met one of these? “Your life is just a dixie cup, Reality check is long overdue” Little Feat influences big time here, again featuring fantastic Benita Evans on vocals.
