Red hot Australian duo PARACHUTE YOUTH will set the stage alight on Friday 8 June 2012 when they hit Zierholz at UC on the Canberra leg of their Australian tour for their debut single Cant Get Better Than This. Joining the group is a showcase of Canberras finest indie darlings in Vacant Field and The Streetlight Parade and the Capitals favourite party starters Celebrity Sex Tape Vs Fro&Mo.

Matt K Von and Jonny Castro are PARACHUTE YOUTH, a fresh new Australian duo originating from Sydney and Adelaide respectively. In the two years since the boys first worked together they teamed up with a completely blown away Ajax from Sweat it Out Records who in turn recruited a completely bowled over Sam La More to engineer the single "Can't get Better Than This". At times it was a difficult process, not wanting to curb the raw appeal of the group, but in the end Parachute Youth prevailed. A wonderfully hypnotic celebration of life, a song soaring with unbridled joy, dark melancholy and drama reverbed. The boys cite their influences as Joy Division/New Order, The Human League, The Smiths, Depeche Mode, Tears for Fears, The Stone Roses, yet their sound is completely modern and contemporary swallowing up huge tracts of musical vision, and providing more goosebumps than a Christmas feast.

As if this isnt enough, UC Live! and Pang! have put together a veritable smorgasbord of indie support acts to celebrate Parachute Youths virgin voyage to the capital.

VACANT FIELD are four UC Alumni who make their own blend of rock n roll, funk, hip hop, punk and surf. Their song Peppermint Tongue was welcomed to great reviews throughout the music community including the statement "Love the song. Super good. I can't get it out of my mind." coming from Bill Skibble, Producer & Engineer of The Kills and The Dead Weather. Vacant Field are set to make their return to this old stomping ground a big one.

Nurtured in a garage in Spence, a band of four young noblemen THE STREETLIGHT PARADE set out on a musical quest of epic proportions. However, mostly theyre just a band from Canberra who enjoys herbal tea, humorous films and the odd piece of toast and the guarantee of rounding out the bill in an incredible indie style.

Keeping the party going throughout the night is a battle of the blogs with Party By Jake poster boy CELEBRITY SEX TAPE versus local hair pioneers FRO&MO.

UC Live! is responsible for many of Canberras favourite music events. From festivals such as Groovin the Moo and All Our Friends to superstar headline shows like Lupe Fiasco and Dizzee Rascal, UC Live! have a strong history behind them and 2012 is looking to be yet another amazing year.
