"Magnificently entertaining. Such musicians are rare in this country.” –City News
The virtuoso Spanish flamenco guitarist PACO LARA, who boasts an outstanding career in Europe and Australia spanning more than 30 years, brings us a guitar concert with compositions from his albums "The Andalusian Guitar" and "Duende" and some of the great guitar classics of all time by composers like Paco de Lucía, John Williams or Joaquín Rodrigo.
Paco Lara's recent successes with the Andalusian Guitar Show (2021/2022 tour) including sold-out concerts at The Sydney Opera House (2021) and The Adelaide Guitar Festival (2021 & 2023) and his 2023 national tour with his show "DUENDE " (more than 40 concerts), place Lara's flamenco talent at the top of the Australian musical scene.
Paco Lara is considered the Spanish ambassador of this art in Australia, representing the best of flamenco from his hometown, Jerez, Spain.
Embodying the unmistakable Jerez style of flamenco guitar playing, PACO LARA presents flamenco guitar in all its authenticity, culture and art. Expect to see impressive articulation, fascinating footwork with musical elegance and imagination that make up this talented flamenco ensemble performed with the characteristic and unmistakable sound ("toque") of Jerez (Spain).
You will be transported to the south of Spain captivated by the sound of its guitar, its musical arrangements and flamenco dancing. Paco Lara has toured internationally with some of the best artists in Spain like Maestro Paco Cepero (one of the most legendary guitarists and composers of flamenco), Mercedes Ruiz (dancer), Isabel Pantoja, El Beni de Cadiz, El Torta, Capullo de Jerez, Remedios Amaya, La Macanita, etc... He has also been at the forefront of Flamenco Fusion with highly successful groups such as El Barrio and Los Delinqüentes.
“The music, beyond being exceptionally well played, is always pretty and eminently approachable, a quality compounded by the choice of repertoire"
(John Shand-The Sydney Morning Herald).
