Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra presents
Obscura 2 — Electronica
Put a violin, some electronic effects, looping, nonsense singing, and more looping into a blender, add a dash of orchestra and you get Obscura Electronica. Groundbreaking artist Hannah Solveij blurs the lines between acoustic and electronic her violin becoming a voice, a drum, a snare, whatever she wants.
Hannah Solveij has the freedom to use her musical voice however she likes, because Loop Guts is her concerto. She co-composed it with Australia’s Gordon Hamilton, and it premiered digitally in Germany.
We won’t reveal where this music will take you, but we can say Hannah is critically acclaimed for breaking convention. So if you’re expecting to hear electronic rhythms against a soaring orchestral backdrop, you won’t be far off.
Rising Australian conductor Sam Weller joins us for his TSO debut (Hannah played at his graduation recital in the Netherlands!).
The Tasmanian Symphony Orchestra's Obscura series is an hour of sonic escapism with guest curators, eclectic music and immersive lighting. It's an orchestra, but not as you expect. You can see all 3 concerts in this series with package options available.
