Obba Layé is an Afro-Cuban Jazz Funk ensemble led by Cuban multi-instrumentalist and composer Richard Ortega with Juan Mulet (drumset), Sergio Mulet (African percussion), Daniel Villarreal (bass guitar) and Keyna Wilkins (flute), Michael Brown (saxophone), Francisco Toledo (vocals).

An intoxicating mix of Ortega's original works, infusing the African ritual drumming with latin jazz, and tunes direct from the streets of Havana.

After living and performing in  Australia for over a decade, jazz-trained Chilean vocalist Magdalena Mira felt a longing to  reconnect with the music deep within her soul. “As much as you do, as far as you go,” she  says, “the roots are the strongest thing.” Magdalena has brought together a band of players  who are all passionately immersed in the music of their ancestors. Combined with  Magdalena’s unique jazz phrasing, improvisation and composition, MIRA is the rhythm,  sweat, and harmony of South American roots animated by a contemporary spirit.
