Event Details

Off the back of her critically acclaimed sophomore album DREAMER (Ninja Tune), we are delighted to finally deliver Nabihah Iqbal’s arresting live show to fans across Australia and New Zealand this January 2024.

2023 has been a landmark year for the multi-disciplinary curator and creative. Her long awaited release of DREAMER instantly proving she is a songwriter of impressive emotional heft. Mixing sounds from dream pop, post punk and electronic music, the album is an intimate journey through snapshots and memories of Nabihah’s life, exploring personal identity and grief. The musician, producer, DJ and broadcaster from London has become one of the world’s most compelling and inquisitive no matter her mode.

She has toured extensively around the world, both as a live act and as a DJ. Performance highlights include Glastonbury, Warehouse Project, Printworks, SXSW, Worldwide Festival, Sonar, Inner Varnika, the Tate Modern and Tate Britain, as well as the Institute of Contemporary Arts, Barbican, Victoria & Albert Museum in London, K11 Art Institute in Shanghai and MoMA PS1 in New York.

Recently, Nabihah received several interdisciplinary artistic commissions. She has collaborated with artist Zhang Ding, been commissioned to compose music for the Turner Prize, collaborated with Wolfgang Tillmans as part of his Tate Modern exhibition and was recently involved in a group performance at the Barbican as part of its major Basquiat retrospective.

A respected broadcaster & DJ, she has hosted a bi-weekly show on NTS Radio since 2013, exploring musical traditions and cultures without boundaries. Nabihah has also frequently appeared on the BBC networks since 2018, presenting shows on BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra, Asian Network, World Service and 6Music. Nabihah is an experienced curator, running her ever-popular Glory to Sound events which have swept London venues, and featured guests as varied as David Olusoga, Gilles Peterson, SOPHIE and Kassem Mosse, have also been a boon of inspiration. She also recently curated the esteemed Brighton Festival as their Guest Director.

As a musician, DREAMER is arguably her most impressive offering to date. Nabihah wrote, recorded and produced the album herself. Incorporating the harmonium and sitar in her music for the first time, instruments reflective of her Pakistani heritage, it’s Nabihah’s rawest and most personal work yet.

January 2024 - Nabihah Iqbal will hit Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane, Wellington and Auckland for a string of memorable shows. Experience the magic as her recordings come to life for a very special live experience!

We acknowledge that this event will be held on Wurundjeri land of the Kulin Nation and recognise that sovereignty was never ceded. We pay our respects to their Elders, past, present and emerging.
