Meme Wars is a modern Neo-Soul / Jazz big band whose style reflects our digital zeitgeist! Our modern culture of non-stop 'information transfer' influences this set of songs, flowing from one style into the next, mirroring the chemistry of this eclectic band.
Gavin Ahearn's compositions explore Funk, Fusion, Neo-soul, Jazz & Hip Hop styles creatively interwoven in a unique sound that will defy logic and nourish your senses. Featuring a stellar line up of Sydney's finest musicians featuring: Steph Rusell – vocals, Ellen Mara – vocals, MC Smurf – rap, Yutaro Okuda – guitar, Chris Fields – percussion, Paul Derricot – drums, Dave Quinn – bass, Jason Bruer – alto sax, Murray Jackson – tenor sax, Simon Ferenci – trumpet, Gavin Ahearn – keys/composer / bandleader.

Steph Russell is one of the finest singer / songwriters of the current generation..Having studied at The Sydney Conservatoire Of Music, completing her bachelor in 2018. In the same year she received the 'Generations In Jazz' vocal scholarship. She recorded her debut EP 'In The Water' in 2019 and has now established herself as one of the most exciting and original voices in Sydney. In this 'unplugged' setting, Steph will be joined by Yutaro Okuda on guitar and Dave Quinn on bass. Playing some new original compositions and her favourite jazz standards.
