This is a special industry panel event designed for those of you keen to get a foot in the music industry.

Mastering Music Mastering Life is back again at Howler Brunswick, Tuesday October 29th with the doors opening at 6:30pm for meet and greet with the talks starting at 7pm SHARP.

Howler will extend it's steak night to all ticket holders as we are usually on Thursdays.

This is a special industry panel event designed for those of you keen to get a foot in the music industry. You have the unique opportunity to meet industry professionals who will answer you questions about how to get a start , or go to the next level if you have already started your journey, but may feel stuck. This very special Hip Hop edition will feature a cross section of Melbourne's Hip Hop culture with Detour Flick, Jase Beatheadz and AUD'$.

There will be a discussion followed by a Q&A. 


Detour Flicks 

Detour Flicks is a dedicated photographer, event promoter, and the CEO of The Get Down Events, based in the northern suburbs of Melbourne. With a passion for uplifting young, up-and-coming artists, Detour Flicks has been instrumental in creating a platform that shines a light on the vibrant talent within the hip-hop, rap, R&B, and soul scenes. 

Since 2017, The Get Down Events has hosted over 35 events featuring more than 150 artists and DJs across various iconic venues around Melbourne. These events have fostered a safe and inclusive space within the music community, celebrating the diverse elements of hip-hop, from graffiti and visual artists to dancers, MCs, and DJs. Known for its commitment to diversity, The Get Down Events actively curates lineups that feature a balance of male and female acts, challenging the norms of an industry that is predominantly male-dominated.

Through these efforts, Detour Flicks and The Get Down Events continue to provide invaluable opportunities for young creatives to showcase their talent, connect with like-minded individuals, and grow within a supportive and inclusive environment.


Jase Catherine aka Jase Beathedz

Either as a facilitator for several councils teaching street art/graffiti murals to specifically “At Risk” youth or as education support teaching music production and art at Oakwood Caulfield for 12 years.

I am also an ARIA and Screen music nominated music producer who has worked for many international and Australian record labels such as Obese Records,Nuffsaid records and Zero Tolerance Mob Records ,Supercharged ,Marine Parade ,Global Recordings ,Against the Grain ,Distinctive ,Boombox Stomp eq. Vicious and many more.

I currently run my own record label called Beathedz producing local artists Plire ,Shao One and Sixpence albums . Beathedz specialises in the areas of HIPHOP ,ELECTRONIC AND DRILL MUSIC.

Matthew Craig aka AUD'$

Born and bred in Melbourne's north, Matthew Craig is the co-founder of and director of content at AUD'$ (AU Dollars) - Australia's Hip-Hop Connect - for whom he has conducted over 100 major interviews with the likes of Brent Faiyaz, Isaiah Rashad, and Ari Lennox, while also providing the earliest coverage of domestic names including The Kid LAROI., Kwame and Mason Dane. A partner at creative hub Marshall Street Studios, and a recording artist himself, Matthew is driven by a mission to see diverse individuals and communities represented at all levels, owing to his mixed Sri Lankan / Italian heritage. Originally a lawyer by trade, Matthew has operated in many roles including as a music publicist for the likes of KSI, HP Boyz & YNG Martyr, and as a youth worker at the Centre For Multicultural Youth. Recognised in 2018 by the Foundation of Young Australians as one of the country's leading Young Social Pioneers, his notable career achievements include guest-hosting the Triple J Hip-Hop Show, Speaking at BIGSOUND Conference, curating & moderating the first hip-hop panel at SXSW Sydney, and formulating an official partnership between AUD'$ and TikTok, curating a hub on the platform to showcase the best emerging Australian hip-hop and R&B talent. Matthew is a member of the official ARIA Hip-Hop & RNB advisory group, and can be heard weekly on national hip-hop radio station CADA.
