Blues, gospel, country, folk & soul
Two singer-songwriters present an evening traversing blues, gospel, country, folk & soul. Backed by rhythm section Sally Wiggins (drums) and Sam Martin (bass)
Karl S. Williams has a one-of-a-kind voice that shakes the building and the heartstrings - and sounds about a thousand years old.
Moving easily between guitar, piano and banjo, his songs are steeped in blues, gospel and old time music with poetic sensibilities that call to mind the classic singer-songwriters of yesteryear. Karl proudly traces his bloodlines (“a colonial cocktail” as he calls it) to the Butchulla and Darug people of Australia’s First Nations. This deep connection to the landscape of his homeland pervades his work and infuses it with a spirituality that is older than time.
Robyn Martin presents an intimate and soulful live music experience. Her distinctive voice and thought-provoking folk and indie-leaning arrangements wrap the listener up and invite them on a journey into the beauty, complexity & fragility of the human experience.
With a sound that is distinctly Australian, her music traverses a wide terrain from deep pocket soul, mixed with heart warming, thought provoking folk sensibilities, to the occasional country hoedown singalong and a sprinkle of grungy angst rock.
Supported by incredible musicians, Sally Wiggins (drums) and Sam Martin (bass).
