Folk, Rock, & Acoustic

Honey Hi is a musical collection of images and experiences in nature. Originally composed on acoustic guitar and vocals, the songwriting tracks a journey between the Redwoods of California & the lakes of Europe, before returning to the coast of Australia. Developed throughout Covid lockdowns, moments of space and light echo within the songs’ band arrangements as they explore folk storytelling.

This evening's performance has been shaped by musicians Madelaine Reid, Milan Monk, Harry Burgess, Ollie Beard & Ross Courtney for the first incarnation of these songs.  

Beryl -  Sydney based indie act Beryl have been writing their intimate and melancholic music since early 2019. After working as members of the local music scene for a number of years, they came together after discovering their mutual love of songwriting. Their music is characterised by evocative instrumentation layered with introspective lyricism.

Oliver Beard - Hailing from Sydney, Oliver Beard is a young artist making waves in Australia’s indie scene. A youthful obsession with music led Beard to getting his hands upon anything that made a sound - an obsession he carries with him still. Having studied at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music, Beard blends his classical training with a contemporary aesthetic, creating music that pulls inspiration from an eclectic group of artists, including: Bon Iver, Nick Drake, Joni Mitchell, John Adams, Four Tet, Billie Marten and Sufjan Stevens.
