Indie-chamber works meets jazz

Payge Eminovski is a jazz saxophonist with an extensive classical background. Her classically trained upbringing shaped her into the multi-genre performer she is today, constantly inspiring her to create new music. During her career, she has played with groups such as the Eunuchs, Olinda Quartet, Eminovski/Inman-Hislop, the Payge Eminovski Quartet and on various recording sessions.

EPHEMERA TRIO
"Hypnotic, transformative" DownTown Music Magazine, New York

"Ephemera is always outward-reaching conceptually...The quartet can achieve a surprisingly orchestral sweep...music of peculiar depth and mystery that somehow evades the laws of gravity." Sydney Morning Herald

"Terrific, rich, pulsating and reverberant... sophisticated and compelling....vivid and colourful." Limelight Magazine

Ephemera: a musical exploration of celestial landscapes such as pulsars, craters, planetary atmospheres, stars, sun and void. Merging the sound worlds of jazz and contemporary classical, and set to real space sounds and projections, it is a unique sonic experience.

The ensemble is led by Keyna Wilkins (piano/flute/compositions) with Elsen Price (double bass/loop pedal) and Will Gilbert (trumpet) and includes freely improvised pieces. NASA recordings of electromagnetic waves from planets and stars is the backdrop soundtrack and has been complied by astronomer Professor Paul Francis often with projections of space probe footage. Each member brings their own unique voice to the ensemble drawing from a multitude of musical backgrounds who combine to create a distinctive sound world that organically react to stellar concepts. Universe and Universality.

Formed in 2015, this ensemble have performed internationally and around Australia including 6 concerts in Japan, being featured at MONA Evenings Series, Extended Play Festival of New Music at City Recital Hall and Sydney International Womens' Jazz Festival, at Foundry 616, Red Rattler, Woodburn Creatives and Melbourne's Uptown Jazz Cafe and many more. www.ephemeraensemble.com
