An inspiration to many, Joy’s career spans five decades and several continents across live performance, television, recording and jazz vocal performance education. She is a consummate performer. From early beginnings in NZ then Australia with Bernie McGann, John Pochee, Graeme Lyall, Don Burrows, John Sangster, Bob Barnard to touring the U.S.A. Britain and Europe with the great Buddy Rich Band. During the 15 years he spent in the U.K. MacRae continued working with a wealth of artists among them: Ronnie Scott, Clifford Jordan, Chet Baker, Annie Ross, Jon Hendricks, Clarke Terry, Cliff Richard,
Production of the influential "Nite Flights" album by Scott Walker and The Walker Bros. Musical director to The Goodies TV Series and also to his credit are recordings with Joy Yates & Pacific Eardrum, the indefinable Matching Mole, Back Door, jazz fusion pioneers, “Nucleus”,
the Mike Gibbs Orchestra, the Mike Westbroke Band and several scores.
